How many D2Sers?

Post by Kristian Ronge »

Hey,

I was just reading Ryback's comments in his 30nm about it being "hardly something to brag about", and realized I'd never bothered counting how many people have actually done the 30nm (un"assisted"). . . so I checked the archives and I came up with this list. It's not in chronological order, but ordered by the best time for the 30nm.

Henning Skogsto (34:13)
Radek Pecka (37:40)
Vincent Catalaa (37:53)
Jan "Doomgeek" Vida (43:32)
Adam Hegyi (46:18 )
Thomas "Panter" Pilger (49:31)
Chris "Ryback" Ratcliff (52:53)
Ian "Sslasher" Sabourin (58:39)

That's 8 people in total. I'm not counting the runs by Uwe Girlich and Steffen Winterfeldt,

And Ryback is the first keyboarder doing this, right? That makes his run to something VERY unique  :)

Huh, thanks guys :)

I don't think Uwe's done a D2S. Esko Koskimaa did a cheated one, though (which he informed everyone else of at the time).

Actually the only REAL D2S holder is Anthe, even though he hasn't done a 30NM :) Check the DHT site for the details.

Oh yeah.. Congratulations! ;D
It was a treat watching your 30nm.. You had me jumping up and down on map30... :-) Why did you have to scare me so!? ;-)
Kind of reminded me of Panter's fall on map26 in his 30nm4949.

Yeah, sorry, I got it wrong. I misunderstood a passage in the FAQ (I was wondering too why I couldn't find any 30nm from Uwe in the archive.)

Hehe.. :-) Yeah, yeah, if you want to nit-pick...

Doesn't Uwe have an unreleased cheated 30nm?  not that it matters.

D2S

Kristian, actually yeah, it's a pretty exclusive group. Vile, Vono, and I, have all tried at some point, Vile making it to map 25 or 26 I believe. Vono, usually died at 12, and me, hey, I've yet to finish map 4 >.> So yeah, it's pretty exclusive. It's something I don't believe I have the capabilities to do. =)

Vile just uploaded a new 30ns ! Very nice demo, be sure to watch it.
That makes him the 3rd D2SS, the 9th D2S, the 4th DS and the 2nd DSS !

Good job on your 30ns Drew!  It was a bit boring at parts but overall a nice job and of course the ending on map30 was the bomb.

I still use win2k, since win98 is forever gone, I just use the -nosound parameter.  Sound isn't a big deal with the mp3 player going.

Haha...Vono calls a run boring. Pretty ironic comming from the most bore-producing compet-n player ever.

Nice accomplishment stx

Wow! I have to go watch this right away! The time promises something sensational!  8)

EDIT: That was fucking INSANE! :-) I especially liked the megasphere grab in map 6... With 1% health he takes it at 0:01.74 and gets hit in the back by a shotgun guy at 0:01.94...
There as so much other stuff that ruled as well..

nightmare newbie question here:

What is more prestigious - A 30nm or 30nmns? In terms of difficulty which is harder? I'm asking cause I've seen all of about 2 30nm'ers and 0 30ns.

well, not an easy question ...
I think it is relatively accepted that 30ns is harder than 30nm. Only 3 dudes did 30ns so far, 9 did the 30nm (Vile's 30ns counting as valid 30nm).

Although, I think it is harder to pull out a quick 30nm than a safe 30ns :) but Vile's is , IMO, a quick 30ns.

Really fast demo Vile, but I know you can do better ;)
FISH: 30ns is harder definitely.
