Coop rules question

Post by VinceDSS »

As some probably already know, Xit and me are working a coop 30uv demo. Since we play the maps rather fast, we have a possibility to miss monsters in some maps.

So I thought about a trick to check alive monsters during recording :
- at the end of the map we want to check, pause, and save the game,
- alt-tab to windows,
- start a 2nd doom2.exe,
- load the saved game,
- roam around and check,
- if ok, return to 1st game, unpause and keep on recording,
- if not ok, quit and.... restart

Yep. Players back in DOS days didn't have this luxury so you won't have it either. Play slower and check for monsters like everyone else does.

OK, it is clear now :)

should it be written in the rules now that it is settled ?

Yeah, it should be, just like everything else that was asked on this forum, but I'm lazy to gather them :-/

maybe I am pushing grandma in the brambles but ...

In DOS times, players could pause, save.
And the file could be accessed from another computer thru the network.
And check kills this way, while the other computer is still in pause...
Tho I don't know if anybody did that ever, but that's potentially possible :)

You're no different than poor Oleg on the Antarctic playing DOOM, and he only has one PC and no network. ;)

just wanted to say it was possible under DOS  :)

Would have been a great help for me and xit  :'(

I know lots of people around have quite some antipathy vs Xit (very justified tho)... and it's not helping me much with the community (like sign a pact with the devil :))

pausing for anything other than essential reasons (phone or whatever) is disallowed under compet-n rules anyway, IIRC, so that would disqualify this without the need for a new rule to be written.
