Where do I find my player ID?
Where do I find my player ID?
I know this will sound noobish, but where do I find my player ID? I've looked in the database section for my name as it states but I can't find it at all. Any help will be appreciated.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Re: Where do I find my player ID?
No, it's not noobish, you are not in database yet so that's why you can't find your ID. I've added you to database, and your ID is 227. Now you should go to settings page and enter it there.

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Sure fx I'm working on a episode 4 uv-speed.. Also, is it possible to run all the 4 episodes in 1 demo ? PS, I'm trying for it in CNDoom
Re: Where do I find my player ID?
In cndoom it is possible, that was one reason to create our own port, but demo will not work in any other port or doom2.exe. Well only first episode would work.
Re: Where do I find my player ID?
thanks fx.. Time to beat a very much possible 4:19 in EP4

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Hi, your ID is 249 and welcome!
Mouselook is not working in Competition doom.
For black screen check your config files:
in cndoom.cfg search for "cn_quickstart_delay" and set it to "70" or lower
in cnlaunch.cfg search for "qsdelay_value" and set it to "70" or lower
This should fix the issue, or just disable quickstart.

2.0.3 is OK, you can play even with 2.0.2.1 because there is one terrible bug in 2.0.3.x versions. I'm working on a fix at the moment.

Heh, so it seems. The IWAD records are tough to beat, especially for newer players.fx wrote:I must admit I created bunch of new player records but none submited a single demo What's with that?
Re: Where do I find my player ID?
It's not necessary to record a faster record than current COMPET-N record, sooooo..
Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Yeah, but I think most people would feel obligated to only submit a demo that breaks the best known record. I know that's how I feel, as it seems pointless otherwise. But you already knew almost no one would submit a demo slower than the Compet-N record, according to what you said in that suggestion thread.fx wrote:It's not necessary to record a faster record than current COMPET-N record, sooooo..
For me personally, I was trying to beat the e1m1 records (not likely, I know, as I suck, and I assume those are some of the most tried and mature runs), but then my video card died. After I replaced it, lightning fried my cable modem and my motherboard's Ethernet port. After I replaced those, I got caught up in the Steam Summer Sale games I got...
...but I still plan on submitting SOMETHING eventually. Hopefully.

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
I plan someday to put more time into IWAD records and maybe the old Compet-N PWADs, though I always only go for records.
Lately, I've been focusing on Scythe and Perdition's Gate, and I have pretty large plans for both, so I don't have the time for more runs.

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Regarding all the new player IDs but no demos from the new players, maybe it would make sense to create player IDs only if that player already has a demo to upload? All these player IDs with no demos are eventually going to cause a lot of clutter on the players page. :\
Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Agreed. You may want to also remove those with an ID who have zero demos and have had an ID for over 30 days.

No, it is fine if it is for old Compet-n. New competition does not accept respawn demos.

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Sorry for a late reply, well Doom competition is not in it's best days and the main thing was to compete. There are few active Competition Doom players, and the old ones refuse to make a switch and they still play only COMPET-N. So, without players and real competition it's useless to have so many categories. And some of categories are ridiculous like tyson, I mean I really love to see a good tyson, but tyson that is one hour long is just blowing my mind. Anyway there are plenty of demos to make even in speed/nm/max categories so feel free to pop in. It's no that hard

Understood. It's ashamed how a Source Port I've been "dreaming" of has showed up, but very little people use it. I consider CNDoom demos more legitimate on compatible wads as it only gives one noticeable advantage (that I know of) which is the time stamp at the top of the screen. Do you have a steam account so that we can have a chat session about this in-depth?fx wrote:So, without players and real competition it's useless to have so many categories.
I must accrue my skill levels then since a fair amount of these demos look hard for me to beat.fx wrote:Anyway there are plenty of demos to make even in speed/nm/max categories so feel free to pop in. It's no that hard

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Answering your question regarding demos having to be records, for COMPET-N and CNDoom, yes, they need to be new records, however for CNDoom records that beat another player by milliseconds are OK. This is in comparison to the DSDA, where they accept anything (records or not).
However, with CNDoom, you don't need to beat the COMPET-N record because CNDoom is on a different database, and CNDoom is relatively new, so there's plenty that you can record with that client.

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Thanks for the info. Thought maybe that was the case, but still slightly shell-shocked from just trying to figure out the proper source port to run and why.
Re: Where do I find my player ID?
^
By the way, if you want to record demos for the old COMPET-N, you'll need to use the original DOS executables for the Doom WADs (doom.exe v1.9 for Ultimate Doom, doom2.exe v1.9 for Doom 2: Hell on Earth and doom2.exe or the Final Doom executables for TNT and Plutonia respectively). For modern operating systems, DOSBox is the tool that you will need to run those executables.
For CNDoom, all you need to do is go into cnsetup to set up the Competition Doom sourceport and then the CNDoom launcher and go through the process there.

btw. yes you can only use original exe files with DOS/FreeDos or Dosbox and cndoom for recording demos.

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Hi Jon, your ID is 268.
1. There is no option to show you total time, only per level and there will be no total time. You can run a stopwatch on your phone
2. That's not cndoom I guess, no color saturation here. Only brightness.
3. There will be no pop up/alert. It will only briefly show on screen while viewing demos, not while recording.
4. You can use launcher or command line (cmd.exe) to record demos. I'm suggesting launcher. Please read FAQ. If you still have questions regarding Competition Doom, post them here.
Regards, Zvonimir

Re: Where do I find my player ID?
Where do I find my player ID? I've looked in the database section for my name as it states but I can't find it at all.
Re: Where do I find my player ID?
If you got one you should be listed here: https://doom.com.hr/index.php?page=compet-n_players

Going to take a crack at MAP27 and MAP30 on Nightmare for TNT: Evilution. I do have one question, so if the CNDoom database is separate from the Compet-N database, does that mean I can record a movie demo of Ultimate Doom (Full E1M1-E4M9 run), would that be acceptable for the CNDoom database under a category (as there is no movie demo of Ultimate Doom on the CNDoom database yet apparnently) despite that the demo would only work on CNDoom (I am aware of the rules to follow).

Hi Erick, your ID is 271 and yes you can record demos for CNDOOM since we have two databases, one for CNDOOM one for COMPET-N and there are not many CNDOOM records so feel free to send some. Welcome
