Competition Doom

Hi fellow Doomers!

Some of you know, some don't, that I've taken over COMPET-N.
Old database is filled up and things are fixed, but what's really
interesting is that I've decided to "reload" COMPET-N and
decided to name it Competition Doom, in short: cndoom.
So now you have a choice:
- play doom2.exe and you records will go to old database
- play cndoom.exe and your records will go to NEW separate database

Yes, I know COMPET-N is a short name of Competition Doom
but that was never really used because of 8 char limit in DOS.

We have a working Competition Doom client which is in
fact Chocolate Doom v1.7.0 fork done by xttl (Ville Vuorinen).
Competition Doom client (cndoom.exe) should be used ONLY
for new database!

What is implemented iv v0.2.1:
- quickstart: you can adjust your mice and keyboard before
the game starts just like in Vanilla Doom
- timer: in game/intermission timer (gametics/miliseconds)
- Competition Doom icon :)

Windows build is available here:
http://www.doom.com.hr/cndoom/cndoom-0.2.1.zip

And source here:
svn://svn.code.sf.net/p/competitiondoom/svn/trunk
https://github.com/fx02/Competition-Doom.git

Nice,
One crucial problem though, is that quick start's mouse turning doesn't turn beyond a certain amount in almost all my tries, even when I tried moving my mouse across all my large mousepad.

Hidden text: show
:sorry:
I've tried it and yes it seems like it doesn't react properly when it's started first time, second and third try worked fine. I've re-uploaded Windows binaries. Try it please.
Anyway I forgot to mention one important thing, v0.2.0 is a beta release, althought I use it everyday.

ps. nah, it doesn't help, I've tried it now, works randomly :(
Well, we will look into it, and let you know here as soon as possible.
pps. it should be fixed now, download v0.2.1 binaries or source and build script. :gracho:

Sounds great really, fighting for milisecs could produce a lot of interesting demos. On certain maps one gametic can make huge difference. Think I'm just one of many peeps who always wanted to beat that old Panter's record down :). I'll prolly try this thing out now when I find some time.

Ok, it seems that recording season is open since Sedlo already uploaded MAP01 but I'd like to WARN you that this is BETA release and I can't promise that demos recorded with v0.2.1 or v0.2.2 will be accepted officially. Version 0.2.2 is almost done and if everything will be OK, v0.3 will be released soon and ONLY v0.3 demos will be accepted!!!
So please wait a week or two with recording until we finish and release officially supported v0.3.

Also, USE new template, but remember that you are obligated to fill these fields or demo will NOT be accepted:
- nickname (you don't have to fill your name, but nickname is a must)
- country (for the sake of database)
- recording date and time

Also wrap your description to 74 characters, well, just press enter when you see that your sentence will be longer than actual template:

Code: Select all

My super duper record done after 4 days and 4 nights but I
did not forgot to wrap text so fx will be happy :D

Does this mean that the DOSBox quickstart resolution issue could also be fixed? It uses SDL as well.
